Fresh caulk made my tub look brand new, took 40 minutes

I mean, I've been scrubbing grout and trying every cleaner for months but the gap along the tub edge just kept getting darker. Saturday I finally scraped out the old caulk with a $6 tool from Home Depot and put down a new bead. The difference is honestly wild, the whole bathroom looks cleaner and it only cost me about 12 bucks total. I used the painter's tape trick on both sides and pulled it before it dried, which kept the lines straight. No more black spots and water actually beads up now instead of sitting there. Anyone else put off recaulking way longer than they should have, or have a tip for getting the corners smooth?
