Took me 6 tries to realize I was stacking my book signatures in the wrong direction for the grain
Saw a bookbinder on YouTube flip her stack around and suddenly my last 5 rebinds all had wavy pages because I was fighting the paper grain without even knowing it was a thing has anyone else dealt with this or am I the only one who missed that detail?

It's funny how that one tiny detail can mess up a whole project without you even knowing what's wrong. That kind of thing happens everywhere, like learning to read a recipe properly or noticing the direction of a fabric grain in sewing. Once you spot the pattern in one area, you start realizing how many little "rules" like that are hiding in plain sight all around us.

Heard a podcast say that's why old recipes measure in pinches and smidgens.
