That $4 thrift store Bible gave me the wildest afternoon

So my usual routine when I pick up old books for modding is to check for loose pages or weird smells, but last Saturday I grabbed this beat-up 1970s family Bible for $4 without a second look. Got it back to my shop in Cincinnati and started thinking about edge staining, but when I opened the front cover a folded grocery list fell out dated 1983 with a note scratched on the back that said 'remember to hide the spare key behind the azalea pot.' I actually drove back to the address penciled on the inside flap, which was 20 minutes away, and the current owner was this retired lady who laughed so hard when I showed her. Turns out her mom wrote that note 40 years ago and the azalea bush was still there, and we dug up an old rusty key that opened nothing but gave us both a story. I ended up putting the list back inside and just did a simple corner binding repair instead of staining, because some artifacts deserve respect, you know? Has anyone else found random personal stuff tucked inside books you planned to modify, and did it change what you did with them?
