Warning: your 'work from the beach' photo might cost you a new laptop

I watched a guy in Da Nang set his MacBook Pro right on the sand for a photo, then a tiny wave came in. He didn't even notice the damp spot until it wouldn't turn on an hour later. It's not just about sand, the salt air and moisture will wreck your gear way faster than you think. Has anyone else had a close call with a 'workcation' backdrop that almost killed their main tool?

Man, the real danger is the sand in your bag later. That grit gets everywhere and grinds down ports and keys for months after. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

That "salt air and moisture" warning is real, my old laptop keyboard corroded after just one beach trip.

Honestly I take my old Thinkpad to the beach all the time and it's fine. Just keep it on a towel and don't be dumb like that guy with the MacBook. @bettyl37 that corrosion sounds like really bad luck, mine just gets a bit sticky but a wipe down fixes it. Gear is tougher than people make it out to be if you're just a little careful.
