Went to the new digital art show in Austin and the screens were all wrong

I checked out that pop-up digital gallery on South Congress last weekend. Every single screen showing the art had the brightness cranked way up, like they were set for a sunny store window. It washed out all the dark details in the pieces, especially the ones with deep space scenes. The staff said they just used the default settings from the rental company. Has anyone else run into this at a show and know a good way to talk to venues about it?

Yeah, that's so frustrating. I saw the same thing at a projection mapping exhibit last month.
