Gallery wall balance, grid or salon style? I picked grid and it flopped

Spent last weekend hanging 14 pieces in my studio and went with a strict grid layout, but the varying frame sizes made it look so stiff and awkward. I redid it as a loose salon hang in about 2 hours and now it actually feels like a showcase, has anyone else ditched perfect alignment for a more organic flow?

Grids look great on paper but they fight back when your frames aren't identical, so that's a totally fair flop. The loose hang is way more forgiving and honestly feels more alive, like the wall breathes a bit. Glad the redo worked out, that's the real win.
