A gallery show in Portland taught me to always bring my own screen.
I was showing a new animated piece at a pop-up last month, and their projector washed out all my dark tones. The curator just shrugged and said 'that's the hardware.' What do you folks use to check color accuracy on unfamiliar displays?

Remember when that museum's fancy monitor made everything look green?

Carry a small color calibration tool in your kit. It gives you hard numbers to show the venue, not just your opinion. That way you can prove their setup is wrong before your work goes up.
