Tried to quiet a 6.7 Powerstroke with a 'universal' exhaust clamp from a gas station in Toledo. Now it sounds like an angry bag of marbles.

Universal clamps are a total gamble on a diesel that size. The vibration alone will shake anything but a proper band clamp loose in no time. That marble sound is probably exhaust leaks and the clamp rattling itself to death. You really need the right parts for a truck that heavy duty.

Honestly, have you ever actually tried a good universal clamp on a diesel? I've seen them hold up just fine for years if you install them right. That marble noise could be a hundred other things, like a heat shield or something in the suspension. People get too hung up on "heavy duty" parts when a simple fix works most of the time.
