I called injector cups a waste of money until a no-start in Fargo changed my mind
Last Tuesday I was 40 miles outside Fargo when my 6.0 quit at a stop sign and would not fire back up. I had the truck towed to a shop off I-29 and the guy showed me coolant pooled on top of the pistons, which means the injector cups let go and dumped coolant into the cylinders. For two years I figured cup kits were just upsells, so I never touched them on my own truck. He quoted me $2,400 for the job and said he sees one of these a week in winter. I told him to do the whole set with new o-rings and a pressure test when it was done. Truck starts cleaner than it has in three years now. Anyone else waiting too long on cups, or did you catch yours before the hydro lock?
