Why I began asking questions instead of just taking photos
I used to only capture images when I went to abandoned shopping centers. Then I made a habit to speak with old workers, and I realized how much community was lost. Has anyone else found that listening changes what you learn?

Actually, that's a really good point. I used to just snap pictures of empty buildings too (they looked cool, you know). But then I talked to someone who ran a diner in one for thirty years, and it totally changed how I see those places. Now I hear stories in the quiet, and it's sad but way more real. An empty food court feels different when you know about the kids who hung out there after school.

@elizabeth107, it's funny how places gain ghosts of memories once we learn their past, a pattern everywhere.

Ever wonder if the ghosts in those quiet places miss us too?
