Vent: a guy on a Facebook group said my dead mall pics were boring because I shoot wide
I posted a set from Rolling Acres in Akron and he said "all wide shots, no story." It stung but he was right, I was just standing at the entrance grabbing the whole concourse. Now I shoot tight, one storefront at a time, and I count things like 14 empty hangers still on a rack at a JCPenney. My posts get way more replies now. Anybody else get called out for their shooting style?
Counting objects is the whole trick. A wide shot tells people what the place is, a tight one makes them wonder who left it that way. Fourteen hangers on a rack says way more than an empty room ever could.
