I drove by the old Westgate Mall in Springfield yesterday and the food court is completely gone now. It was still there six months ago.

You say it's gone, but that's just the food court. The mall itself is still standing. They probably cleared it out to put in something better, like a bigger store or a new set of restaurants. It's not really gone, it's just changing.
