Burned $40 on a dead mall "photo tour" ticket in Akron and got yelled at by a rent-a-cop
So I paid $40 to get into what was billed as a guided photo tour of the old Rolling Acres mall down in Akron, and it was a total bust. The "guide" was some guy with a clipboard who knew less about the place than I did from watching YouTube, and he walked us past a locked gate and basically pointed at a wall for 20 minutes. We got maybe 15 minutes inside before a rent-a-cop showed up screaming about trespassing and we all had to leave, and the guy never refunded anybody a dime. Now here's the debate I keep going back and forth on: half of me says paying for access is the only safe way to get into these places without a real trespassing charge, but the other half says no money should ever change hands and you just get your shots and get out on your own. What do you all think, is paying for a dead mall tour ever worth it, or is it always a scam dressed up as a VIP pass? I'm out $40 and I don't want anyone else to fall for the same thing.
