Why does nobody tell you to put a $2 silica packet in your Game Boy cartridge box?

A guy at a retro shop in Austin told me last week that moisture kills more carts than drops ever will, so now I toss a silica packet in each box. Has anyone else had a cart die from sitting in a humid closet?
