Walked into a thrift store in Salem and saw someone buying a CRT monitor for $50

I had to stop and ask the clerk if anyone still uses those things, and he said gamers pay top dollar for them now. Have you seen retro setups actually look better on old screens, or is it just nostalgia talking?

Gamers pay top dollar for them now" - yeah I hear that a lot but I think it's overblown. $50 for a CRT is insane. Those things are heavy, take up half a desk, and the picture quality is not that great. People forget how bad CRTs actually looked back then. Blurry text, color drift, constant degaussing. I get wanting that classic look for retro consoles. But most of these guys are paying scalper prices for monitors that were getting thrown away five years ago. You can get a decent LCD and a good upscaler for less money and way less back pain. Seems like nostalgia mixed with hype to me.
