Changed my mind about e-readers after my buddy's Kindle broke

I used to swear paper books were the only way, but last month my friend Dan dropped his 2012 Kindle on a bus in Portland and cracked the screen. He shrugged and said 'at least I can still read it on my phone,' and that got me thinking. I picked up a used Nook for $25 at a thrift shop, and now I read more because I can carry 500 books in my jacket. Anyone else switch back to old e-ink after years of ignoring them?

That Nook for $25 is probably a better deal than any new tablet out there. My wife found a 2019 Paperwhite at a garage sale for ten bucks and it still holds a charge for two weeks. The battery life alone makes it worth it, phones die by noon if you read for an hour. Plus no notifications popping up while you are mid chapter, that alone made me switch back. I tried reading on a tablet once and hated the eye strain after twenty minutes. E-ink just feels like paper in a way that no LCD ever will. Once you go back, you never go back.
