My dad's offhand comment about my morning coffee made me trash my whole routine
He watched me measure 14 grams of beans and time the bloom for 45 seconds before saying 'you know that's just caffeine with extra steps, right?', and suddenly I was back to a plain $20 drip pot from Target and honestly it tastes better because I'm not treating breakfast like a lab final, has anyone else had someone casually dismantle a habit you'd spent months perfecting?

Half my morning routine involves convincing myself the $500 grinder was a smart buy, so I get it. But your dad saying that out loud is like a balloon popping, right? The weird part is that cheap drip coffee genuinely does hit different when you aren't mentally logging extraction times. I've seen guys at work swear by a burnt Mr. Coffee over a fancy pour-over setup just because the ritual got exhausting. You traded stress for simplicity, and that's a fair trade honestly. Sometimes the perfect cup is the one you don't have to think about.
