Rant: My recycled router almost let hackers in through the backdoor!

I tossed it without resetting the settings, and now I realize how risky that was! Anyone have a quick checklist for safely ditching old gear?

Mark's old router got hacked after he donated it.

Always figured old tech was safe once you got rid of it. This story is a pretty good warning to wipe everything first. Guess I was wrong about that.
