I finally blew up about our constant hardware refreshes for 'security'

My boss makes us swap out routers and firewalls every two years just to stay compliant. All that e-waste from still-working gear makes me sick, and it feels like a fake fix. Isn't there a smarter, less wasteful way to handle network security updates?

Ever think about checking if the gear actually gets security updates? Sometimes you can keep hardware longer if the maker still puts out new firmware. We started reselling our old routers to smaller shops instead of tossing them, which cuts down on waste. You could also push for a real audit to prove some devices are still safe to use.
