Wore a name tag with the wrong name for a week and customers stopped yelling at me
I work the returns desk at a big box store in Dayton and my manager handed me a spare tag that said Greg by mistake. I decided to just roll with it for my shifts that week. Turns out people calm down way faster when they think they know you, and I had 11 separate customers ask for Greg by name the next day. One guy even said "Greg, you're the only one here who gets it" while returning a $60 blender with no receipt. I still got the same number of complaints, but the yelling dropped a lot. I told my actual coworker Greg and now he wants to try wearing my tag. Has anyone else tested a fake name at their job?
