Warning: that one Saturday shift in March taught me why the morning crew hides the coupon binder
Two Saturdays ago at the store on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie we had 61 people in line by 10am because corporate emailed a 40 percent off deal to the whole tri-state area. My coworker Kim and I ran the front alone for 5 hours because two people called out and the manager was in the back on a 45 minute call with IT. The worst part was the coupon binder, people had printed the same code 8 times and half of them would not scan, so every third customer needed a manual override. Around 1pm a guy came back for the fourth time about a $6 price difference on a phone case and I just handed him cash from my own wallet to make it stop. If your store is planning a big email blast, please staff the front and test the codes first, has anyone else had a promo day turn into a hostage situation?
