Warning: a guy at the Lubbock counter made me rethink the whole "customer is always right" thing
Six months ago I was working the return desk at a hardware store in Lubbock, and a man came in with a $14 hammer he bought in 2019, used hard, and the handle was cracked. He set it on the counter and just said, "A good tool shouldn't give out like this." Part of me wanted to point at the 4 year gap and say no, but the other part figured he was right that a hammer shouldn't split from normal swinging. So which is it, should a store stand behind a tool for years or is a return window a return window? Curious where other people land on this, especially anyone who works a return desk.
