Spent 3 hours lubing switches before I realized I had the spring orientation backwards
I was building my fifth board last weekend, a Tofu65 with Gateron Oil Kings, and could not figure out why half my keys felt scratchy and pinged like crazy. Turns out I had been dropping springs in without checking which end was tighter, so about 40 of them sat crooked and rubbed the housing walls. Watched a guy on YouTube mention it in passing and it clicked instantly. Now I flip every spring so the closed end faces the stem, and the difference is night and day. How do you all keep track of spring direction when you're doing a big batch?
