Man, this is the same thing that happened to me with coffee. I drank dark roast for years thinking that was the only "real" coffee and then someone handed me a light roast pour over and my whole world flipped. Same with beer, I only drank IPAs forever because that was the "good stuff" and now I mostly drink pilsners. I feel like we all just grab onto these rules early on, like linear switches for gaming or whatever, and then never question them again. Half the fun of any hobby is realizing the stuff you swore by was just the first thing you learned.
