Hit 10k subs in 14 months and it felt weirdly empty

I run a small DIY tutorial channel mostly about fixing old bikes, and I crossed 10,000 subscribers last Tuesday after posting consistently for 14 months straight. The number surprised me because my last 30 videos each got maybe 400 views, so the milestone felt like it came out of nowhere. Has anyone else hit a milestone that didn't match their recent engagement, and how did you make sense of it?

Ngl I think you're looking at this backwards. Those 400-view videos are probably your real audience, and the 10k is just leftover momentum from an old hit or two. I hit 50k once and it was mostly bots and people who subbed for one video and never came back. Dead subs are worse than no subs because they tank your engagement rate and make the algorithm hate you. If your last 30 videos all got 400 views, that's not a mystery, that's your actual channel size. The 10k is the outlier, not the 400s. Honestly you might be better off if that number dropped so you can start fresh with people who actually watch.

Sort through your old videos in analytics and find the ones that brought in the most subs, then make more content in that exact style (even if it feels repetitive). That gap between subs and views usually means one video pulled way above its weight, so double down on whatever that one was about instead of chasing the 400-view crowd.
