How I stopped writing super long prompts after 8 months of getting garbage back
For almost a year I wrote these 500 word story prompts with tons of setup because I thought more detail meant better results. Then in January I tried a 20 word prompt for a flash fiction group in Portland and it came back way more focused than anything I'd written before. I also started leaving out character names and just gave a job and a problem. Now my go to prompt is one sentence about a person and one weird rule they have to follow. What's the shortest prompt you've gotten a good story out of?
