Site super told me to stop using the tagline as a handhold, changed my rigging
A superintendent in Tulsa chewed me out after he watched me grab the tagline to steady myself on a load hookup. He pointed out that one gust could pull me off the deck, so now I rig a separate positioning line and keep the tagline strictly for load control. Has anyone else had a similar habit they had to break after a close call or a talking to?

Man that Tulsa super did you a solid even if it stung in the moment. I had almost the exact same habit years back, used to grab whatever line was closest when I needed to steady up on a hookup, and it took a near miss to knock it out of me. The scary part is how normal it feels until someone points it out, because your brain just wants something to hold onto and a tagline is right there. Once I started running a dedicated positioning line it slowed me down at first, but now it is just part of the setup and I do not even think about it. Good on you for actually changing your rigging instead of brushing it off, a lot of guys just nod and go right back to the old way.
