Chose the old cable rig over the new joystick one in 2009 and never went back

Back around 2009 my boss gave me a choice on a 60 ton: keep running the old cable rig or move to the new joystick setup. I picked the cable and the whole crew thought I was nuts, but I could feel the load through the levers in a way the joysticks just never gave me. Ran that rig for 7 more years on job sites around Odessa and never once had a load swing on me. To the guys who made the switch back then, did the feel ever come back to you, or was that just gone for good?
