Hot take: I thought those little notebook journals in Stardew were pointless until I hit winter in year 3

I used to ignore the journal and quest log in Stardew Valley completely. I figured it was just extra clutter on my screen and I could keep everything in my head. Then I got to winter and realized I had no idea what I was doing anymore. I had stuff I needed to ship, people I wanted to befriend, and bundles half finished, all floating around in my brain. On a whim I opened my inventory and used the in-game notebook to write a few notes about what I wanted to get done the next day. Sounds silly but it helped so much. I stopped wandering around aimlessly at 6pm every night wondering what I forgot. Has anyone else tried using the notebook or do you just keep it all in your head?
