Update: I stopped using foil for balayage and switched to clear plastic wrap, way less bleed
Had a client with fine dark hair on Saturday and I tried clear plastic wrap instead of foil for her balayage, mostly because I ran out of the wide foil halfway through. The wrap hugged the section so much tighter that nothing shifted while I worked the back of her head. When I rinsed her out, the lines were cleaner and I didn't have any of those muddy spots near her roots that foil usually gives me. Two other stylists at the salon in Portland are trying it now. Has anyone else switched over, and does it hold up better on coarse hair too?
