Rant: a client at the salon on 5th made me rethink how I mix color
I was doing a corrective color at the salon on 5th last Tuesday and the client brought in a photo that was clearly edited. I mixed my usual formula and it came out about two shades off from what she wanted. She pulled out her phone and showed me the original, unedited pic, and it was totally different from what she handed me at the start. Now I ask every new color client to send me the raw photo before they come in, no filters. How do you all handle it when someone shows up with an edited reference pic?
That stinks, especially after you already had the whole formula mixed and ready to go. Two shades off is a lot to fix on the spot, and she had to know the first pic wasn't real. I feel for you though, because that puts you in a weird spot where you look like the one who messed up when it was her photo that was the problem. Asking for the raw pic up front is smart, and honestly I might start doing the same thing. Did she at least understand once she pulled up the unedited one?
