Chose between a cheap hood dryer and a nice one when I opened my chair in Tucson, still think about it
When I first rented a chair in Tucson about 7 years ago, I had to pick between a $90 hood dryer off a swap site and a $400 one from the supply house on Speedway. I went cheap because rent was already eating me alive, and man, that thing rattled like a lawn mower and took almost 25 minutes to get a roller set dry. Clients kept asking if it was supposed to sound like that, and I'd just laugh and turn the radio up. It finally quit on me mid-color on a busy Friday, so I borrowed my neighbor's old one that had a cracked hood and honestly it worked better than mine ever did. Looking back I should have just put the $400 on a card, because I spent way more than that on extra time and one really annoyed regular. These days the dryers are so much quieter and lighter, and I kind of miss the days when you just worked around whatever clunky thing you had. Any of you ever go cheap on a big tool and end up paying for it later, or was it just me?
