A quiet client's story shifted how I see salon visits
I was doing a basic blowout for a regular last Friday. She seemed down, so I asked if everything was okay. She shared that her pet had passed away earlier that week. We just talked while I worked, and I gave her a little extra scalp massage. By the time we finished, her mood had lifted a bit. It hit me that our chairs are sometimes where people feel safe to unload. That moment was about care, not just hair. Has a simple chat ever changed the feel of an appointment for you?

Totally. Read that barbershops are like therapy sometimes.

True, my barber probably knows more about my life than my actual therapist at this point. I just start word-vomiting my problems the second I sit in that chair. It's cheaper than a copay at least.
