Why does nobody talk about the schedule being the real problem on every job
I was running a 12 unit fit out in Garland and padding my three week look ahead with extra float on every task. My super pulled me aside and said the trades were sandbagging because I gave them room to do it. He told me to post real durations and call out slippage the same day instead of hiding it. First week after I tried it, the drywall crew fell behind by two days and we actually fixed it before it hit the next trade. Now the schedule is honest and the finger pointing went way down. Anyone else get called out for building in too much cushion?
Did your super also tell you to stop hiding snacks in your truck so the crew doesn't sandbag their lunch breaks too? I got called out for the same thing last year and felt like a kid caught cheating on a test. Funny how just being honest about the dates fixed more than any angry email ever did.
