The 5 minute trick that exposed a fake witness statement
Was going through case files from 2019 and noticed two reports had the same exact weather description for different days in Seattle. Compared the timestamps and turns out one officer copy/pasted the whole paragraph from another incident. Has anyone else caught duplicate language in official records that seemed too clean?

Honestly that's hilarious, the weather in Seattle is like 50 shades of gray and drizzle half the year, so copying a weather report is the laziest lie you could tell. Tbh if you're gonna fake a witness statement at least make it rain in one and be cloudy in the other, give the paperwork some variety. Ngl though, this is why I always read police reports with a side of skepticism, cause if they can't bother to change the sky, what else did they copy paste? Probably the whole suspect description too, but hey, at least the clouds match, right?
