Warning: a finisher in Amarillo gave me one piece of advice that saved my slab, and I still don't know if he was lucky or right
Guy named Ruben on a shop pour off I-40 told me to pull my screed edges back 2 inches from the forms before I started floating, said letting the mud sit proud causes the edge to dry faster than the middle. I did it and the 24x30 slab came out clean with no crumbly edges, but my brother says the real fix was just the 68 degree day and low wind. So was Ruben giving me real trade knowledge or did I just get a good weather break? Any of you run the screed tight to the form on purpose?
