I used to skip fiber in the mix, but a basement job changed everything

Always thought fiber reinforcement was a waste of time for indoor slabs. Then I had to repair a basement floor that spiderwebbed without it, while the one next door with fiber held firm. Do you run fiber in every pour now, or just for certain projects?

Oh man, same here. I always figured it was just extra cost for no real gain, especially inside. But then I did this garage floor where the homeowner skimped and it looked like a map a year later. The one across the street we did with fiber? Still looks new. I don't skip it anymore, even on the simple pours. Just not worth the call back.

Guess I learned the hard way too, just like @gavinramirez, after my own spiderweb basement disaster.

Did a basement up in Rockland last year where the previous guy skipped fiber. Every single control joint had hairline cracks running off it like little forks. After seeing that mess, I totally get what @gavinramirez means about callbacks. I toss a bag of the synthetic stuff into every single load now, even for interior slabs, just for that extra bit of peace of mind.
