Burned $400 on wrong color hardener for a stamped patio job

I grabbed a color that looked exactly right on the cap but once we mixed it and started stamping, it came out almost purple, so we had to tear out half the slab and lose a full day of work, anyone else had a color match disaster?

Did the cap actually match the wet color in the bucket, or did you just go by the little plastic lid chip? I learned the hard way that those caps are always off by a shade or two, especially with darker tones. A buddy of mine had a similar thing with a slate gray that dried pink. Now I always mix a small test patch on a spare board or scrape piece before I commit to the whole slab. Saves a ton of headache and money down the road.

Tell @thomasm41 that wasting time on test patches is why some crews never break six figures.
