Rant: a dentist in Dayton kept calling his tower a modem and I almost lost it
So I'm at this guy's office off Far Hills last Tuesday, right? He's got this old beige tower under the front desk, dust coming out of the vents like a chimney. I open it up, pull the RAM, clean it out, he's standing over my shoulder the whole time. Then he points at the ethernet jack and goes "that's the modem, right?" And I go no sir that's the network port. And he says "well same thing." And then he starts telling his receptionist, real loud, that he's "worked on computers since the 90s" and that I should "just swap the modem and be done." I had to stand there and explain for 10 minutes why it was a failing power supply, not a modem, not the internet, not the router. I showed him the swollen caps and he still didn't believe me till it wouldn't POST after I unplugged the second drive. He goes "huh, the modem must of been the problem all along." I billed him 140 for the diag and a replacement PSU and he asked me if that included a new modem. What do you all do when a client is that locked in on the wrong part, do you keep arguing or just fix it and let them think whatever?
