From crusty to clean: my thermal paste solution

Was dealing with an old build and the paste was hardened. A little isopropyl alcohol on a cloth made it easy. Keeps my repairs moving fast.

Used to scrape it off, but this is way better.

Hey @christopher_bennett, that shift from scraping to alcohol sounds like a game changer. But have you ever dealt with paste that's basically glued on from an older build? What's your go-to method for those REALLY tough cases where it won't budge? I've heard some people use a plastic tool with the alcohol, but I worry about scratching things. Do you let the alcohol sit to soften it up first, or just start wiping right away? Getting this right seems CRUCIAL for not wrecking parts during a repair.

Soak it first for sure, like give it a good minute to work into the old paste. A plastic spudger is totally fine if you go slow and don't force it. The big mistake is reaching for a metal tool out of frustration, that's when scratches happen.
