That tenant improvement allowance negotiation went sideways on me last week
I was working on a 2,500 sq ft office lease in Austin and thought I had the TI allowance locked at $40 per foot. The landlord pulled the offer after I asked for a simple clause about early access for construction. Has anyone else had a deal fall apart over something this small?

A buddy of mine lost a 3k sq ft lease in Denver over a paint color. Landlord wouldn't budge on the shade of white for the walls. Sometimes they just want an excuse to walk.

That's the thing with a lot of landlords now. They act like they're protecting the property but really they're just looking for any tiny reason to flip it or raise rent on someone else. It feels like running a business has turned into finding ways to say no instead of working things out.
