Lost $150 on a drysuit zipper repair that failed in 2 dives

I paid a local shop $150 to replace a zipper on my DUI drysuit and it blew out again on the second dive at Hood Canal. The guy swore he used the right gauge zipper but it was clearly a cheap knockoff. Anyone know a reliable place in the PNW for drysuit zipper work?

Check if your home insurance covers faulty workmanship claims.

Does your policy actually cover fixing the original bad work, or just the damage from it? Most standard home insurance plans I've seen specifically exclude faulty workmanship and only pay for sudden accidents that happen later. You'd probably need a separate builder's warranty or liability claim against the contractor for the actual repair cost.
