Honestly thought the 'banana trick' for mask fog was total dock talk until I tried it.

Ngl, I was working a hull cleaning job in Miami last month and my buddy insisted I rub the inside of my mask lens with a banana peel. Tried it out of pure desperation after fighting fog for an hour, and it actually worked perfectly for the whole dive. What's the weirdest old-school trick you've heard that turned out to be legit?

It's funny how many of those weird tricks are just basic chemistry. My grandpa swore by using a raw potato to take a splinter out, something about the enzymes. Sounded nuts, but it worked on a nasty piece of fiberglass I got once. Makes you wonder what other old wives' tales are secretly genius.

Oh totally! My mom used to put a slice of raw onion on your foot for a fever, and it actually seemed to help (sounded crazy at the time). It's wild how much basic science got passed down as folk wisdom.
