Tried two ways to store my old comics and one was a clear winner
For years, I kept my 80s X-Men run in cardboard boxes in the basement. Last summer, I moved them into a closet with a dehumidifier running. The difference was huge. After just three months, the books in the basement had a musty smell and some spine roll, but the ones in the controlled closet looked the same as the day I moved them. What do you all do for long-term storage in a humid climate?

Switched to plastic bins with silica gel packs for my old books. The cardboard boxes just soaked up moisture no matter where I put them. How humid does it get where you are?

That's a solid plan for a closet, but basements can work too. Proper plastic totes with tight lids beat cardboard any day of the week. The real key is keeping the air moving down there.

Yeah, it's funny how little things like proper storage end up being a lesson you have to learn the hard way. @beth_stone mentioned silica gel packs, and that's a solid move too - I toss those in with my camping gear and it makes a real difference over time.
