That $75 variant cover I bought was a total scam

Picked up a foil variant of Amazing Spider-Man #900 from a shop in Chicago last Saturday for $75 because the guy said it was limited to 500 copies. Got home and found out it's actually a third print with a cheap sticker slapped on. I'm out the cash and it's not even worth half that. The shop owner ghosted me when I tried to call. Anyone else get burned by a store pushing overpriced variants?

a cheap sticker slapped on" ... man, that part got me. I've seen those foil stickers before and they literally peel off with your fingernail sometimes. $75 though? That's brutal. I had a shop try to sell me a "secret rare" variant of Ultimate Invasion #1 for $100 once, and when I flipped it over it was just a regular second print with a different cover. These shops know exactly what they're doing, slapping some shiny garbage on a dollar bin book and pretending it's gold. Sorry you got ghosted too, that's just a whole other level of shady.

Dang, that's rough. Those "limited" sticker variants are getting out of hand. Feels like some shops are just printing their own hype now.
