Just found out the average Big Two comic sells fewer copies than a mid-tier indie title at my local shop
I was flipping through the ICv2 sales charts for October 2024 and saw that Batman #153 moved around 106,000 copies, which sounds huge until you realize my shop in Louisville orders maybe 30 of those and sells 12. The real shock was a guy at the counter telling me he orders more of a small press horror title because his regulars actually finish it instead of stacking it in a box. So if the direct market is surviving on 12 loyal readers per store, what does that say about the big relaunches every 6 months? Anyone else notice their pull list shrinking while the variant covers get uglier?
