Vent: I messed up my coffee by not cleaning the grinder

Last week, every cup I brewed had a funny taste. I assumed my new beans were the problem, but they were fine. After some checking, I saw my grinder was full of old coffee gunk. The built-up oils from past beans had turned rancid, and it ruined the flavor. I ended up throwing away a good bag of coffee because it all tasted bad. Now I take time to brush out the grinder after each use. It's a small step, but it keeps my coffee tasting right. I mean, idk, maybe it's just me, but I wish someone had told me this sooner.

Have you tried cleaning your grinder with uncooked rice? In my experience, grinding a bit of rice can help soak up those old oils and leftover bits. It's a simple trick that keeps the flavor fresh without a full tear-down.

Honestly that gunk adds character, a nice mix of old and new beans.
