PSA: a diner in Boise poured me a cup I didn't order, and now I'm stuck on a coffee question
Last month I was in Boise for a friend's wedding and stopped at a diner near the depot around 6am. I ordered my usual dark roast. The guy behind the counter slid me a cup of something light and fruity instead and said "try this one, on the house." I hated it for the first three sips. By the end I wanted a second cup.
Now I'm torn. Half of me thinks I wasted 12 years drinking the same dark roast and never gave light roasts a real shot. The other half thinks that cup only worked because it was free and I wasn't expecting anything, so my guard was down. If I had paid $5 for it I might have dumped it.
So which is it? Do light roasts actually deserve more room in my rotation, or was it just the free cup and the diner vibe messing with my head? I want to hear from people who switched sides, either way.
