Pro tip: Apparently light roast has more caffeine than dark roast. Blew my mind.
I've been drinking dark roast for years thinking it was the strong stuff. Then I read this article from a coffee science blog last week. They broke it down with actual numbers. Light roast keeps more of the caffeine because the beans aren't roasted as long. Dark roast loses some in the process. I had it backwards this whole time. Anyone else find this out the hard way?

Friend of mine swore by dark roast until @the_brookes husband out-caffeinated him with a light roast.

My husband used to brag about how "manly" his dark roast was (eye roll), then I accidentally bought a light roast once and he couldn't finish his first cup because he was bouncing off the walls. He finally looked it up and had the same mind-blown moment you did. Now he won't shut up about how he's "optimizing his caffeine intake" like some kind of coffee scientist.
