Hot take: my grinder's burr swap went sideways at 6am and I almost quit coffee
Last Saturday I woke up early to swap in a new set of flat burrs on my grinder before my shop opened, and things went bad fast. I was in my kitchen in Boise at 6am with a small screwdriver and a cup of drip coffee that I was depending on to get me through the job. One of the tiny burr screws stripped, and I watched about a gram of metal shavings fall into the chamber. I panicked and tried to vacuum it out with a dust buster, which just blew the shavings deeper into the burr carrier. After 20 minutes of cursing, I ran the whole thing under warm water and dried it with a hair dryer on low for half an hour, then zeroed it back in with a marker at 12 notches off true zero. The first shot after that pulled in 22 seconds and tasted like cardboard, but by my third try I got it to 28 seconds and it was actually sweet. Has anyone else had a burr swap turn into a full teardown, or am I the only one who strips screws at sunrise?
